New Maps of the West

In The Pines

Up in the mountains/there’s valleys and streams
Out in the Pines there’s a place you can be
All kinds of silence/bird on the wing
Lay on the ground and forget everything
Or follow the Coastlands Pacifically
The Strawberry ground for your Artichoke dreams
That fold with the Fog and that taste like the Sea
That come with the Fall and are gone with The Spring
The sun sets down against a sky like wine
The Moon says change yr bones change yr lazy bones
Come around a corner/come around or maybe change yr mind…
On to the Heartland The Churches and Kitsch
There’s brakelights ahead/there’s a car in the ditch
The Cops in slow motion /The Firemen all leave
The Girl at the Wheel she forgot everything
Securitization and Plasma TV
The Presidents Face and the Milk in the Fridge
She’s floating above now/three feet to the wind
The Rubberneck Angels arrive on the scene
The sun sets long and slow against The Night
And The Moon says change yr Bones change yr lazy bones
A little off/ a little on/ a little of a little at a time…..
